Sqft Calculator
To calculate your square footage you can use the calculator and the example below. If you have an angle in your counter top you must subtract the overlapping triangular shaped sections as illustrated below and you can use the triangle section of the calculator to obtain the square footage of the area to subtract. If you need help measuring the base and height of your triangular shape this website may help you out. Here’s the steps you need to take to achieve an accurate measurement:
- You must divide your counter top into sections as in the diagram
- Using the diagram of the angled counter as an example, you need to add length of the sections together (85+60+72=217)
- Next, using the calculator multiply the total length by the width to get your total (38.43)
- When calculating square footage on an angular kitchen, use the largest measurement. For instance: if you have a countertop that is 60 at the front and 75 at the back, we will calculate using the 75 number. This is otherwise known as “Completing the Square” and is a typical application in the trades.
- If you have a triangular section, multi-sided polygon or a circular section you can use the calculator and the example in the diagram to acquire a total square footage. The hexagon requires you to find the area of a single triangle then multiply by the number of sides in the polygon (assuming the polygon is symetrical and using 37.5 as the base and 32.5 as the height multiplied by 6=25.39sqft)
